But I think the position of the Ministry

of Health vis-à-vis the General Nursing Council

is quite different from its position in connection

with the General Medical Council. The General

Medical Council is an offshoot, which has almost grown into a separate and independent organism of

the Privy Council; and I do not think we should

dream of writing to them via the Council in any case.

exercises no authority whatever over the G.M.C.;.
